I tried. Really. But I didn’t feel comfortable using the Apple Mail. Not enough configurability to make me continue using it. So, I switched back to mutt.
With Mail.app, I was not able rotate my fortune signatures. I was not able to use gpg to sign/encrypt my messages. Also, It lacked the configurability which I used to get with procmail and a whole lot of other stuff.
You will find a huge number of tutorials and guides to make a move to Mutt. So, I won’t bother you with links to them.
P.S: I would not recommend Mutt for GUI-oriented users. Mutt is a terminal based client (in case you were looking for a reason).

I find your attitude towards ‘GUI-oriented’ mail users condescending. I condemn this. We are a majority and we will crush you. Or at the very least, pout angrily.
‘Rotating’ the fortune cookies seems to be the only advantage of using mutt. Also, I think ‘rotating’ is not the right, or even a pretty, word to use. I will consult Arvind on this.
What happened to snow and bugs and open source and np-completeness? Given up in your noble endeavour to shed the cumbersome vestments of your virginity?
Oh oh, ‘cum’-bersome?
[Arjun]: He he, olle crushing defeats-u.
On the battlefield, guarding the fort stand the terminal users. Among them is Gimli, the really short, hairy guy who pokes at his opponent’s feet using a really huge axe. Standing next to him is a gay looking archer, Legolas (All archers in the movie LOTR were portrayed in a really gay manner (Quite rightly too. All they do is pull at long straight things, right?) (Oh, Arjun, I hope you are not a die-hard archery fan, else I would have to brace myself for another “I find your attitude towards ….. “.))
Well, while they are standing there waiting for the GUI-oriented users to attack, Gimli, with a really heavy British accent says, “Why’re we here, mate?”. Tying his hair up into a bun, Legolas replies “We are fighting the GUI-oriented users, mate.” With a grunt, Gimli says – “Aw, Come on! (pause) I am going home to watch some porn.”
Yeah, so, I am a GUI-oriented user too and I am finding the switch quite hard to adjust.
‘Rotating’ is the only advantage of using mutt, for you.
I don’t find it right/pretty too. But used it anyway.
[Arjun]: Oh, that. I found it quite stupid and boring.
Uh, yeah.
I didn’t really get how this analogy is related…oh never mind, I am going home to watch some porn anyway.
