LaTeX

I started using LaTeX probably a month and a half ago, and I find it really useful. I started off by writing my Resume, and now I have already written a couple of project reports using it. If you need to write a report or a paper or a resume or just any document you should use LaTeX. Its very handy. (Word processors like MS Word and OO Writer are really not suitable for creating documents. They only make things difficult, if you ask me.)
This should help you start off. Ofcourse, you would need an editor and a tex engine. Also, you would need pdflatex and bibtex.  It will take a few tens of minutes to get the hang of it. But, it is surely worth the effort.
There are a few integrated applications around which you could try.
Mac OS X: TexShop
Linux: Kile

  1. You should try ConText.

  2. I will. I also found this a package for writing in both LaTeX and ConTeXt. http://www.gnu.org/software/auctex/
